Art Hearts Fashion Model Call for NYFW Spring 2018

September 2017 meant one thing for fashionistas around the world, especially in New York: it's Fashion Week time again! New York Fashion Week is officially starting and the city is buzzing with preparation for it, including the masses of models attending casting call after casting call in anticipation of the big week ahead. We decided to lend a hand to show producer Art Hearts Fashion to get the inside scoop on all the activity leading up to their show line-up. Before you even reached the side of the hotel, you could see the line of models wrapping around the block at the Flatiron Hotel where the casting call was being hosted. It's always wonderful to have a turn-out in the masses like that but the process of getting through the day starts to seem daunting! We didn't have the entire hotel to ourselves, just the lobby bar and the mezzanine space. Unfortunately, that line going around the block was a necessity for safety reasons. Not everyone could fit inside without creating a fire hazard. The hotel staff jumped in and worked security at the doors while we tried to keep things in order inside down to finding enough pens to go around for the casting forms each model had to complete before they walked for the designers upstairs on the mezzanine. The day was long, but it was exciting because we knew this was just the first part of what was going to be a fantastic show.

We broke for dinner and had to get ready for the launch party Art Hearts Fashion was hosting for NYFW. At dinner actually, Alice and I realized we didn't have anything to wear for the party. I had the shoes for us back at my apartment, but we needed just right dress for the Mardi Gras themed soirée. Perfect timing because NYFW also means a time for endless sample sales and new inventory in the poplar stores. We hit the streets scavenging one shop and then the next. Alice picked up this fantastic black glitter slip dress and I decided on a pink sequenced cocktail dress.

When we got to the party in Downtown Manhattan this amazing violinist was killing it for the crowd already accompanied by a live DJ. So, we took the must have red carpet pictures and group shots with other industry friends at the party and then we partied the night away. We did make sure to beat the sun home though because even though the Art Hearts Fashion shows were still a few days away, the next day was set to be another full one!

We didn't have a lot of free time while volunteering back stage at the actual shows, but we did find a nice clip of the one of the shows to share with you at the end of this post.
