Reflections on NYFW SS23
Hey Fashionistas!
It’s been a minute since our last E&G Fashion Media blog post. Actually it’s been since last NYFW SS22 when we were jet set from New York off to London and Paris for the shows. In the meantime we’ve been busy getting new collaborations together for the launch of Evelyne & Gordon Fashion House, the new fashion design brand of Evelyne & Gordon Fashion Media, but that took a brief pause as New York Fashion Week swept us off our feet this past week! The events were non-stop and back to back, per usual. But, we only covered a few for social media content. Those were, in order: the Amour’s Secrets launch, Runway 7, Gita Omri SS23, the Pierre Blanc Showroom, Flying Solo and Art Hearts Fashion. Here’s a quick review of those in all their glory. (Click each picture below to get more visual content from each brand and of course go to our Instagram and Twitter to see more bits from the shows we covered!)
The Amour’s Secrets skincare launch was chicly intimate and one of a kind at the Crosby Street Hotel in SoHo. The incentive of this brand to create skin care for those suffering from and survivors of cancer, as well as any other illness that affects the skin, is very personal to E&G since one of the muses for the brand, Evelyne Myatt, passed away from cancer in 2016 and everyone involved with us has family or loved ones who had to battle cancer and other illnesses afflicting their skin and ability to maintain their own semblance of beauty and self care. All the products are soft on the skin, extremely nourishing but not heavy or sticky, and it’s all natural and safe regardless of what regimen someone may be on. There is a live demonstration of the product on our Instagram: Click here.
Runway 7 was like a secret party in Midtown’s theatre district at Sony Hall only for those in the know. If you knew you knew and if you were invited, you partied! Over three days, it was a lit runway with skating, live music to back the catwalk and designs that made you hit your phone right away in search of where you could snag a piece from that collection. Each year Runway7 gets more exciting and fun packed. They are one to watch as they have been from the get go.
Bringing a soft edge to everyday style without showing much effort for the edge. It’s design that makes you feel good and comfortable know your outfit makes you look completely put together for any occasion. The pieces in this collection are those good ones that you can wear for a full day with out needing a second outfit to be well dressed—unless of course you absolutely want that second outfit. The show was held in the new NYFW space on 5th Avenue donated by Aritzia to NYFW CDFA for the season. The store front was beautiful and the buzz attracted the attention of everyone passing by.
SoHo’s very own house party held at the beautiful Tom Dixon 2-story SoHo decor loft. It was a collection preview and a lounge party. There was a DJ killin’ it but softly, with warm music vibes and everybody who had already seen the pieces spread out around the bottom floor grabbed a drink (or two) and lounged around the furniture that included plush chairs, dining tables and a canopy bed. It was a great spot to take in new pieces and sink into an ambiance for as long as you wanted. When it was all said and done, I think it could be agreed the coats are a must have for this coming winter!
A mad rush from morning til after dark for this iconic spree of runway shows on the rooftop of Cubico with that breathtaking open air backdrop of lower Manhattan. It never fails. It’s the same thrill every year, twice a year for Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer. And it’s not to be missed. Not matter how crazy or packed it gets, aside from the must-do visit to their store on West Broadway in SoHo, at least one show is required as a go-to to see a new, inspiring, hard-won collection walked-in across a sprawling runway set against the backdrop of the world’s fashion capital. No collection presented is out of place and each leaves you feeling satisfied you made it to the rooftop to see the show.
Glory packed in over several days, safely tucked away in the majesty of the synagogue that houses the Angel Orensanz Foundation. This is one of the stops you make when you’re looking for a new designer or stylist. Each collection is grab-worthy. AHF has always been choosey and it has served them well. There is one collaboration that was off-site at the LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts behind Lincoln Center; the Segway x TOMBOGO collaboration. It offered up gender fluidity, sustainability and fashion forward tech in the form of solid statement pieces donned atop lifestyle trend-worthy electric scooters. It was everyday life brought to the classroom for a touch of nostalgia and a glimpse at where street-wise fashion + innovative technology can take our lives. The thought is not “that’s new”. It rings more like Lizzo, “it’s about d*mn time”. And in a way that makes you want more of this fashion x tech marriage in your everyday life, sharing with the world what it brings out in you (all good things!).
The collections presented at all the AHF shows made this season a favorite of all the seasons E&G has been invited to since 2017. And honestly, wearing items from these collections is only for those who are open and can handle it. AHF brings you that next level style before you hit the sky as a fashionista. Not to be taken lightly, but to be loved, adored and very much respected. After all…as we love to say here at EGFH, “fashion isn’t just an art form, it’s a way of life—and that’s culture”.
Thanks so much for reading and we’ll be sure to bring you more blog posts throughout the rest of the season before the year ends. Follow us on all of our social media, share with other fashionistas you know and check out some of our old blog posts to see what else we’ve been up to.
Be living art!
With a little chic from,
