Unplug From Your Winter Blues With These Winter Hues
Winter is drab, right?! (…some people like it…but anyway, that’s not the point. Keep reading!) We’ve been fighting through this pandemic for almost exactly an entire year now and outside of constantly buying new clothes online to feel good while socially distancing and staying at home (sometimes even under total lockdown in some locations), we have all had to get extra creative at some point to make our style at home feel remotely (no pun intended!) exciting. This has gotten even harder during winter when all you want to do is curl up everyday in pajamas and lounge wear. This is true even if you do have somewhere to go…Adding some edginess and bright colors to your outfit is guaranteed to have you doing double takes on yourself in the mirror. Not convinced? Try any one of these style inspos below and see how it shifts your mood, the way you look at yourself in the mirror and maybe even your whole day!
Style Inspiration #1: Colors. Be loud, be proud! With your colors ;) Lemony, sunshine yellow anyone?
Pull out any bright colored top and pair it with dark jeans (to keep the focus on the top), a buckle belt and some long boots. Over-the-knee boots always give a little extra edge but any long riding boot style will work. If you’re leaving the house you can tone the whole thing down with a warm colored coat and minimal jewelry.
Style Inspiration #2: The Puffer. Yes. It’s amazing and it’s a must have in any form you can get your hands on, especially if it’s a vest or a scarf that you can rock indoors (and outdoors for a walk, running errands, going to get vaccinated, curbside pickups, anything, anytime, anywhere).
Since the puffer style became a main trend for winter, it has evolved into so many items: boots, hats, scarves, vests, short coats and long coats. You can find a puffer style for each of these items. You probably have at least one in your closet already. And of course, all the better if it has some popping’ color to it! Revive it by pairing it with a polar opposite material like a shaggy wool coat or a wool sweater.
Style Inspiration #3: Accessorize Outerwear. Don’t settle for wearing the usual hat, scarf, long coat combo. Give it some edge by changing what you add to your outer wear when you do have to leave the house briefly. For instance, change up you cross body bag style and shorten it to wear it in the front hanging down or still diagonally across the chest.
Add some dark sunglasses to you look and you’ll be on edge looking in the mirror—in a good way, for a double take! Your crossbody bag can have a chain strap or leather strap. Both types look great around a casual outfit like a solid colored hoodie sweater and solid colored leggings under a long coat. Here go those puffer boots and long puffer coat mentioned in style Inso #2.
Go give yourself some much needed edginess and color in your style for the rest of Winter 2021. Do the double takes in the mirror and feel great while you look great inside and outside (pun intended!).
