MAN AW20 Showrooms

Man / Woman AW20 was up first on our list of events for New York Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2020. Just as in any fashion week line up, men’s showrooms open first and then women’s shortly after. Fortunately, for all fashion lovers, there is something for everyone in both showrooms hosted by MAN / WOMAN. Stepping onto the 6th floor of Spring Street Studios you would never guess they had spaciously spread out a whooping 59 count designer line up across the 2 showrooms! Our highlighted brands for the three days are Bourrienne Paris X, Dear Miler, El Solitario and Happy Socks.

Bourrienne Paris X visiting from Paris just for NYFW was like a light at the edge of the showroom with three racks full of sharp white dress shirts. The variety in style caters to every era and every taste—from old romantic style cuts with all the trimmings, long garment style of a more mediterranean and middle eastern appeal, classic Oxford style and even new millennial style cuts that give you that casual yet chic (wrinkle-free and shorter cut) appearance no matter what the occasion you’re dressing for.

Dear Miler is that lux travel wear line that crosses effortlessly into unisex territory with so much comfort and cool, there isn’t a piece in the line you wouldn’t want to try on in front of the mirror. The colors range from warm beiges and creamy whites to deep browns, rust colors and poignant dark blues and black. There isn’t a whole lot of fuss, it’s all very simple and clean but each piece makes a statement on it’s own. This is what makes any piece in their new collection so attractive to both men and woman alike even though they were showcasing primarily their men’s collection for this showroom.

El Solitario is custom made leather galore! A biker-inspired line that creates custom leather racings suits for pros all around the world from their home base in Spain. Send them a design and they can hand craft it into any leather piece you desire. What’s particularly nice about their work is the texture of the pieces. Sometimes leather goods can be quite stiff, but they use a combination of varied leather materials and techniques that allow for movement and freedom in the pants, tops and jackets even before you break it in. The colors also look extremely natural rather than over processed dyeing that sometimes happens when designers are trying to achieve a specific color.

Happy Socks…what’s there to say? They make you happy! All the designs were laid out across the four shelves of three different racks and they also brought a table with all the fun current and holiday gift sets. It may seem trivial but packaging is everything! The box something comes in can lure you in just as much as the product inside. Happy Socks does this well! The only problem is, which one(s) to choose? It’s a difficult choice. And, when certain designs weren’t available in size or inventory at the showroom, the Happy Socks SoHo store was just a short walk up W. Broadway with a mega 50% off sale waiting for anyone who ventured over there.

It was a beautiful three day experience and a fun kick-off to New York Fashion Week. WOMAN AW20 showrooms are next, happening at the beginning of February and then we are headed to the runway shows starting with New York Fashion Week Men's, followed by New York Fashion Week Women’s. See you there!
